Main characteristics of aluminum alloys

Aluminum is a well—known element with a low density (2.7 g/cm3) and a low melting point (about 660 °C). Such a property as high plasticity significantly facilitates rolling, forging, drawing and other processing of this metal. In addition, it is characterized by good electrical and thermal conductivity.

Foundry aluminum alloys are cast in induction furnaces using special technologies. The source material can be not only primary, but also secondary raw materials, for example, chips. In the latter case, the scrap undergoes thorough preliminary preparation with the aim of cleaning it from dirt, oil and other foreign inclusions.
